Along with sharing details about what was on the lunch menu, one of the most popular uses of thesocial network Twitter is picture sharing. Image hosting services like TwitPic and Yfrog have done their part in making it easy to share your snapshots via a quick tweet, but Twitter thinks it can do it better. The company revealed today that it is partnering with media hosting hub Photobucket on an integrated picture sharing feature that will appear on both the Twitter website and its mobile apps.
And to go along with its new, streamlined image sharing feature, the social network is giving its searchfunction a complete overhaul. Now, in addition to being able to browse tweets by keyword or trending topic, you'll also be able to view pictures and videos that have appeared alongside those search terms in other users' tweets.
The company also announced that it is working on a version of its photo sharing feature for use with non-smartphones, and will hopefully have more news on that front in the coming weeks as well. The revamped search tool will begin rolling out today, while the integrated image hosting will show up "over the next several weeks."
