New Technologies Expected in Upcoming Cars

Auto manufacturing business is flourishing and the cars are becoming more convenient and luxurious. The vehicles are improving in designs, quality, and safety with the help of new technologies. Some of the technologies are becoming common in the car while few technologies are only available in expensive cars (e.g., Audi, Ferrari etc). However, some technologies are in the pipeline and are not completed yet by many auto companies. They might be seen in the near future in new cars. Here is a glimpse of some of these technologies:

Touch Pad Steering

Touch pad steering technology helps to enhance the driver’s attention, while he is driving the car. It gives the detail about speed, fuel gauge etc on the windscreen. Therefore, when you are driving on the busy highway, you do not have to roll your eyes three or four times in order to check for speed, fuel etc. Everything will appear on the screen and it will decrease the overall distraction. The size of the screen can be adjusted with just one touch. The manufacturers have used 3D printers to create such display system. It is expected that with the use of such technologies, the accidents on highway can be minimized.

Internet Car

All of us are usually online on our iPhone or Blackberry when we are driving our cars. However, the new cars are becoming smart phones themselves and you might have to touch your Smartphone while using your car. The online system in the cars will be made functional by giving cars, their own operating systems. Hence, these cars will than have ability to synchronize online data and act completely like your Smartphone.

Pedestrian-Detection and Night Vision

Pedestrian hitting accidents are common on empty roads and during nighttime. These accidents mainly happen due to excessive drinking by the driver or excessive distractions present while driving. Pedestrian detection technology is expected to be common in the market soon. It will stop your car automatically if it identifies any pedestrian in a certain range.Night vision that is not very common in the vehicles (introduced last year by Mercedes) will help your car in identifying objects more clearly on a dark road.

Fuel saving technology

Due to higher concerns by many countries regarding increasing expenses of fuel, many companies are working on introducing cars that consume less fuel and have efficient fuel combustion engines. One such technology expected is the engine off technology. With this technology, your car engine will be switched off when it stopped for a long time (e.g. traffic signal).

Carbon Fiber Exterior Body

Many auto-making companies are working to reduce the total weight of the new cars. This will help in increasing the mileage of vehicle. Low weight will require less energy to run and hence high speeds can be achieved and more distance can be covered in one gallon of oil. The new exterior material that might be seen in the future cars will be carbon fiber. This material is presently used in sports equipments and bicycles. It is durable yet very light.
