Sometime Even Great Companies Fail - Top Google Failure Products Ever

Google is no doubt a global search engine giant, not only search engine there are lots of innovative products out there which is introduced by Google. They just changed our lifestyle. It’s true that every time Google try to experiment, they want to come up with more innovative products. But there is an old saying that “one can’t be empire in every field.” That’s what something happened with Google. Here are the top products by Google that failed, and finally Google had to shut down all those products.

Google Notebook

Google Notebook was a free online application offered by Google that allowed users to save and organize clips of information while conducting research online. The browser-based tool permitted a user to write notes, clip text and images, and save links from pages during a browser session. The information was saved to an online "notebook" with sharing and collaboration features. Notebooks could be made "public", or visible to others, and also could be used to collaborate with a list of users (either publicly or privately). As of July 2012, all Notebook data had been exported and Google Notebook was shut down.

Google Buzz

Google Buzz was a social networking, microblogging and messaging tool that was developed by Google and integrated into their web-based email program, Gmail.  Users could share links, photos, videos, status messages and comments organized in "conversations" and visible in the user's inbox. On October 14, 2011, Google announced that it would be discontinuing the service and that the existing content would be available in read-only mode

Google Answers

Google Answers was an online knowledge market offered by Google that allowed users to post bounties for well researched answers to their queries. Asker-accepted answers cost $2 to $200. Google retained 25% of the researcher's reward and a 50 cent fee per question. In addition to the researcher's fees, a client who was satisfied with the answer could also leave a tip of up to $100. In late November 2006, Google reported that it planned to permanently shut down the service, and it was fully closed to new activity by late December 2006, although its archives remain available

Google Lively

Google Lively was a web-based virtual environment produced by Google. It was discontinued on December 31, 2008. It featured three-dimensional atmospheres where users could interact with each other in a room and create avatars and cartoons to communicate with each other.

       Jaiku

Jaiku was a social networking, micro-blogging and life streaming service comparable to Twitter.  Jaiku was founded in February 2006 by Jyri Engeström and Petteri Koponen from Finland and launched in July of that year. It was purchased by Google on October 9, 2007.

      Google Video

Google Videos was a video search engine, and formerly a free video sharing website, from Google Inc. Before removing user-uploaded content, the service allowed selected videos to be remotely embedded on other websites and provided the necessary HTML code alongside the media, similar to YouTube. This allowed for websites to host large amounts of video remotely without running into bandwidth or storage capacity issues. Google Videos was shut on August 20, 2012. The remaining Google Videos content was moved to YouTube.

Google Labs

Google Labs was a page created by Google to demonstrate and test new projects. Google described Google Labs as "a playground where our more adventurous users can play around with prototypes of some of our wild and crazy ideas and offer feedback directly to the engineers who developed them.

Google X

Google X was a project released by Google Labs on March 15, 2005 and rescinded a day later. It consisted of the traditional Google search bar, but it was made to look like the Dock user interface feature of Apple's Mac OS X operating system. Google did not release any official statement as to why the project was shut down.
